RAVA DOSA

I usually want to try something new everytime.But u cant risk on morning breakfast,the most important meal of the day.If something goes wrong then Im doomed forever from the kitchen.Well before something like this happened my clever mom wouldnt allow me in the kitchen.It was one sunday morning when mistakes were allowed.So i quickly browsed the web and did this.I learnt this recipe from padhuskitchen.And i added some of my mom's tips to it and came out awesome till the last dosa of the batch!!!

 THINGS U NEED
   Rice flour - 1 1/2 cup
   Rava - 1/2 cup
   Maida/ all pupose flour - 2 tbsp
   Fermented dosa/idli batter 1 cup(this is very important)   Jeera/cumin seeds - 1 1/2- 2 tsp
   Whole black pepper - 1 tsp
   Green chilli -1 very finely chopped
   Thick Buttermilk - 1/4 cup
   Onion -1
   Water -appoximately 2 3/4 cup
   Oil for making dosas
   Salt as needed.

METHOD

  • Mix rava in 1/4 cup buttermilk and leave it for 15-30 minutes.
  • In a bowl, mix together rice flour, all purpose flour, cumin seeds, whole black pepper, green chillies and salt needed. Add the rava + butter milk mix to it. Then add approximately 2 3/4 cup of water to it little at a time and mix it well so that there are no lumps.Check for salt. Add if required.
  • Finely chop 1 onion and green chilli.
  • Heat 1 tsp of oil in  a tava and fry onion till transparent.
  • Add this to the batter.
  • The batter must be free flowing and very thin.(like buttermilk)
  • Now heat a tawa.
  • Pour a laddle full of the batter in a throwing fashion from the sides of the pan.it will immedietly form bubbles.
  • Now add oil and cook till it turns golden brown.
  • Serve hot.
